Asish Banerjee, former Bengal deputy speaker, found hanging at TMC party office

Former West Bengal deputy speaker Asish Banerjee was found dead on Sunday morning. His body was discovered hanging at a Trinamool Congress office in Rampurhat. Police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause. A purported suicide note was also reportedly recovered from the party office. Banerjee was a five-time MLA from Rampurhat and served as deputy speaker.
